HISTORY

The International Workshop on the Design of Reliable Communication Networks (DRCN) was first held in 1998 in Brugge Belgium and has been held biannually since.

This 4th DRCN workshop is a follow-up of the first three DRCN workshops:
DRCN 1998, Brugge, Belgium
DRCN 2000, Munich, Germany
DRCN 2001, Budapest, Hungary

In DRCN 2001, there were a total of 136 delegates (122 from Europe, 6 from USA, 3 from Canada, and 1 from Korea), with roughly 65% from industry and 35% from academia. 46 papers were presented and published in the proceedings (out of 69 submissions). There were also 3 exhibits, a full day tutorial, and a panel discussion session.

DRCN 2003 was held in The Banff Centre in beautiful Banff National Park, Alberta, in Canada's majestic Rocky Mountains on 19-22 October 2003, and marked the first time the conference was held outside of Europe. There were a total of 142 delegates from 17 countries, with roughly 41% from academia, 51% from industry, and the remaining 8% from government organizations. 60 technical papers were presented and published in the proceedings, which have been subsequently archived by the IEEE and available at IEEE Xplore. There were also 5 invited talks, 4 tutorials, and 6 exhibitors, as well as a panel discussion.

The next workshop will be DRCN 2005 to be held in Italy. More information will follow.
